IN MOTION | Autumn Edition

In Motion...
One Year of Wellbeing in Motion 💜
Hello everyone,
This September marks something very special for us — one whole year since I officially launched Wellbeing in Motion community classes in Orpington.
It feels both like yesterday and like such a journey.
Building something from the ground up takes time. There have been baby steps, small wins, quiet moments of doubt, lots of learning, new qualifications, new ideas and new faces walking through the door — and, most importantly, a growing community of wonderful movers who continue to show up and move together.
Thank you to every single person who has joined a class or a workshop, brought a friend, shared a post, encouraged me, tried something new or simply trusted me to be part of your movement journey.
One Year Together
During the week of 14 September, we celebrated our first birthday across the classes with a little extra fun, connection, movement and celebration — while keeping everything that makes our sessions feel like us.
Whether you have been coming from the beginning or have only recently discovered the classes, you are part of this community — or, as I like to call you, My Flock :)
Thank you for your kind words, your wonderful energy and the beautiful flowers. I appreciate every single one of you.
And now, we step into Year Two.
What Comes Next?
One year in, I feel even clearer about what I want Wellbeing in Motion to stand for. Not simply exercise. I want to create spaces where people can:
move their bodies, build strength, reconnect with themselves, improve confidence, play, laugh, release stress and experience the connection between movement and emotional wellbeing.
Over the coming months I will continue developing the programme, bringing together everything I am learning through dance, fitness, mobility, Laban Movement, movement psychology and holistic wellbeing.
There is much more to come.
🌺 More Solo Latino
One of the newer flavours appearing in our classes is Solo Latino.
This gives us the opportunity to slow things down and explore beautiful Latin movement one step at a time.
Rather than worrying about keeping up with a fast routine, we can spend a little more time exploring rhythm, posture, coordination, musicality and confidence.
There will be more flavours coming too — allowing us to experience different Latin rhythms, styles and ways of moving.
It is movement for the body, mind and soul — and, most importantly, it is fun.
🌿 Exploring Movement Through Laban
You may also notice something different beginning to weave its way into our classes.
Following my recent Laban Movement training, I would love us to explore movement in a slightly deeper way.
Not simply learning what movement to do, but becoming curious about how we move.
How does it feel to take up more space?
What happens when we make ourselves smaller, or contrary, how does it feel when we allow ourselves to feel bigger, take up more space?
Can a movement be light and floating, then suddenly strong and grounded?
What changes when we move quickly or give ourselves permission to slow down?
We will gradually play with ideas such as:
space • direction • time • speed • weight • flow • elevation
Sometimes movement will be structured.
Sometimes playful.
Sometimes expressive.
And sometimes there may be no “right movement” at all.
It is another opportunity to use movement as an expression of our inner world, not only as exercise.
Moving Into the Darker Season
As autumn arrives, our days become shorter and the evenings a little darker. For some of us, this season feels cosy. For others, the longer evenings can sometimes bring moments of lower energy, isolation or feeling of loneliness.
This is when I think the small rituals matter even more.
Light a candle when you come home. Not because a candle can solve everything, but because sometimes that tiny flame can become a reminder to invite light, warmth and fresh energy into your space.
Put on some music.
Move your shoulders.
Stretch.
Take a slow breath.
Dance around the kitchen.
And perhaps most importantly — stay connected.
Think about a friend, neighbour, colleague, mum, sister or someone else in your life who might need a little encouragement as we move into the darker months.
Send the message.
Ask how they are.
Invite them for a walk.
Or gently say:
“Come and move with me.”
Sometimes walking into a room alone is the hardest part. Walking in beside someone you know can change everything. And that is exactly the kind of community I want Wellbeing in Motion to continue becoming.
